Customs’ main focus areas - Compliance and Revenue collection

The South African Revenue Service's (SARS) latest Strategic Plan 2016/2017 - 2021/2022 highlights this fact. Importers/ exporters and manufacturers – basically all Customs’ clients are strongly advised to review their activities regulated by the Customs legislation with a view of improving their compliance levels. The new Customs legislation will be implemented in phases, with the first phase focusing on Licensing, Registration and Accreditation, scheduled for implementation early in 2018. All Customs’ clients will be required to re-license/ register with SARS Customs.
